The Dawgs conducted a two-hour workout today as they continue getting ready for the upcoming Southeastern Conference clash with rival Tennessee.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs (1-4, 0-3 SEC) and the Volunteers (2-3, 0-2 SEC) will be aiming for their first conference victory of the season. UT leads the all-time series 21-16-2 including 10-8-1 in Athens.

Coach Richt said today’s practice was another productive day.

“It was a high-tempo day, the scouts did a great job simulating, and we got some good work against each other especially in our 11-on-11 drills,” said Richt. “We’ve got a good plan, and we executed well today. I told the team I’m proud of them, and the way they have practiced, and if you watched them this week, you’d see they’re looking forward to another opportunity to play. I appreciate their attitude and effort.

He provided a status update on several key Bulldog receivers indicating that senior Kris Durham (stinger) has a 50 percent chance to play.

Sophomore Marlon Brown (#15) injured his shoulder during Monday’s practice. The Memphis, Tennessee native is out for the game.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Yesterday, I would’ve said I don’t think so on Kris (playing) but he’s got a 50-50 chance, we’ll see how he does Thursday, however it’s a no contact day,” said Richt. “Last week, it went right up to pre-game before the decision was made and we’ll see, we might be in the same boat to figure it out. I hope he can play. Marlon will not play, but we don’t think its anything long-term.”

Durham was the team’s leading receiver the first four games, tallying a career-high 17 receptions for 324 yards with junior A.J. Green sidelined. Green returned last week against Colorado while Durham missed the game. Richt added that he is hopeful that Green can play the entire game Saturday. Green missed portions of last week’s contest due to cramping and was still sore this week, according to Richt.

“A.J. wasn’t full speed earlier this week, but today he moved around real well so I think he’s fine,” said Richt.
