Monday Practice Report

FOOTBALL

The Dawgs began preparations for this week’s game against Tennessee (2-3 / 0-3)with a 90-minute practice in full pads.

Typically, Monday practices are conducted in helmets and shorts and are geared more toward conditioning and special teams.

However, this week, the Dawgs “changed things up,” according to Coach Richt.

“We did a little spring ball by putting on the pads, we went ones against ones and twos and against twos and knocked heads a little bit. I thought they responded well. … We got after it. We had a high-tempo, great-energy practice. It was physical and spirited. Great competition.”

“Tennessee has a very physical football team,” Richt said. “They will try to knock us off the ball and make big plays from a physical standpoint. We’ll have to try to match that.”

The captains for Saturday’s game will be Clint Boling, Ben Jones, Akeem Dent and Darryl Gamble.

Kickoff is set for 12:21 p.m. and will be televised by the SEC Network.

It was announced Monday that the Saturday, Oct. 16, SEC football game with Vanderbilt in Athens will be televised by the SEC Network with kickoff set for 12:21 p.m. ET.
