Andrews Named Lineman Of The Week

FOOTBALL

Georgia sophomore center David Andrews has earned Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week honors following the Dawgs’ 38-0 win at Auburn, according to a league announcement on Monday.

This marks Andrews’ first SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week selection as well as the first honor of its kind for Georgia this season. The Dawgs have had 10 SEC weekly honors this season.

Andrews, a 6-2, 295-pound native of Johns Creek, graded out at 88 percent in the Dawgs’ first shutout of the Tigers since 1976. Andrews had six “dominator” blocks and three knockdowns while starting his 10th consecutive game at center.

Andrews anchored an offensive line that surrendered only a single sack of quarterback Aaron Murray against Auburn. The offense generated 497 total yards and both freshmen tailbacks Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall had more than 100 yards rushing. In fact, the offensive line has paved the way for 10 100-yard rushers for Georgia this season.
