The rain dampened the Dawgs practice gear but not their spirits as Georgia held a two-hour workout in soggy conditions Wednesday.
"We had a very nice practice, the rain stopped at the right time," said Georgia head coach Mark Richt. "It was a little chilly but everybody moved around pretty well. There was little mist but not much rain."
Richt added that the Dawgs (4-5, 3-4 SEC) continued preparations for this Saturday's game against Idaho State (1-7, 0-6 Big Sky) and were not looking ahead to next week's SEC game at nationally-ranked and undefeated Auburn.
"We're working on Idaho State this week, we're 4-5 and hoping to get to 5-5," Richt added. "We are in our normal routine and we won't change that."
Georgia will play 11 straight games before its open date on Nov. 20 and then finish the regular season with rival Georgia Tech on Nov. 27 in Athens. Richt said the Dawgs have managed to stay fairly healthy this year and part of the reason may be result of how it approached preseason camp.
"It would be nice to hand pick it (the open date) but it doesn't work that way usually," said Richt. "You get the SEC schedule and go from there, and every once in a while, you can pick it say let's have a bye here or there, but you still have to get somebody to fit in that spot. We'll have played 11 games this year before the open date and so far we've held up well."'
Idaho State is making its first visit to Sanford Stadium. It will be the first meeting with the Dawgs and only the second SEC team it has faced. In 2005, the Bengals lost 41-29 at Kentucky. This trip will be the furthest East that the Bengal football team has traveled for a contest. Georgia is 1-1 against non-conference teams this year with a home win over Louisiana and a road loss to Colorado.
