The Dawgs kicked off game week today with a two-hour practice at the Woodruff Practice Fields.
Coach Mark Richt treated today’s session like a regular-season Tuesday practice, meaning the Dawgs worked out in shoulder pads instead of just shorts. That sets up the rest of the week for what Richt has called “dress rehearsals.”
“We’ve got to make sure the game plan is tight so that our young men know what to do,” Richt said. “We don’t want to try to trick anybody., The more they know, the more we can keep the tempo we want. ... We want to have it down so that we can execute what we want to do and be able to go with great tempo and be physical and disciplined.”
Richt said today’s practice was the last one in full pads before the opener.
“Today’s practice left a little bit to be desired,” Richt said. “It’s not like they were dogging it, but I thought we’d see a little more energy. But it’s something like the 23rd or 24th or 25th practice, and that might have something to do with it.”
The Dawgs have won 13 straight home openers.
