The No. 7 Dawgs will host the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday at Sanford Stadium.
Georgia (2-0) is coming off a 41-20 win against new SEC opponent, Missouri, while Florida Atlantic (1-1) is coming off a 31-17 loss against Sun Belt foe Middle Tennessee. This is the first meeting between the two teams, however the Dawgs are 9-0 against teams currently competing against the Owls in the Sun Belt Conference.
“It’s always good to win, and to win an SEC game,” said Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo on Sunday. “That’s everybody’s goal. This year especially, we’ve done a good job of enjoying the moment we’re in, playing every game and finishing games.”
“Last night we finished in the fourth quarter, on the road and in a hostile environment,” continued Bobo. “Missouri was ready to play, and for our guys to go there, finish like they did and win it, shows the character of this football team. If we can build on that win, use it as momentum, go back to work and know what we have to do to get better, that’s the exciting thing. We’re 2-0 instead of 0-2, but we still have to focus and worry about each game, each week.”
Bobo is looking forward to seeing continued improvement and performance from the team, as well as individual players.
“I was extremely proud of Marlon Brown last night,” Bobo said. “I was proud of the way he worked this offseason and improved as a receiver. I think the strength staff has done an unbelievable job with him in terms of his flexibility and speed. He looks more and more like a complete receiver. Hopefully last night will give him some confidence and he can perform like that week in and week out.”
In addition to improving, the Dawgs are looking to add depth to the roster for the Florida Atlantic game.
“Since Chase Vasser and Sanders Commings were out, other guys were forced to play,” Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham said. “They came in and did a good job for us, and now when you add Vasser and Commings back in, it adds depth to the team. We’re going to work to use both those guys similar to the way we used them last year and get them playing again this Saturday.”
Kickoff for Saturday’s contest will take place at 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on CSS.
