Georgia senior tailback Nick Chubb has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in the shutout win at Tennessee, according to a league announcement.

This is the Dawgs’ third SEC weekly honor of the season and first Offensive Player of the Week honor.  Senior outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter was named the Defensive Player of the Week after the win at #24 Notre Dame and freshman quarterback Jake Fromm garnered Freshman of the Week honors in the victory over #17 Mississippi State.

Chubb was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after the win over #22 North Carolina last year and was named the Freshman of the Week five times in 2014.

Chubb, a native of Cedartown, made a triumphant return to Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium two years after suffering a season-ending knee injury versus the Volunteers in 2015.  This past Saturday, he ran 16 times for 109 yards to help lead the Dawgs to a 41-0 shutout of the Volunteers, breaking a 289-game streak of Tennessee scoring in a game dating back to 1994.

This marked Chubb’s 20th career game with at least 100 yards rushing.  He improved his No. 2 spot in the school record books with now a career rushing total of 3,904 yards.  Chubb also inched into the No. 4 spot on the nation’s active career leaders list as Georgia totaled 294 yards on the ground versus the Vols.
