Dawgs Are Red Hot On The Recruiting Trail

Football

The past month has seen the Dawgs load up on highly ranked recruits around the south. Of the current class, 10 are from Georgia, 7 from Florida and 1 is from South Carolina. Five are rated among the top 50 players in the country by Rivals.com and no other program has more than three. With 18 verbal committments this years class is nearly full, so expect only 2 or 3 more between now and national signing day in February when yet another top ten class will become official.

The latest to don the red and black is Southwest Dekalb defensive end T.J. Stripling the 28th ranked player in the country, Stripling is 6-6, 216 pounds and should provide the much needed pass rush from the weakside that was lacking in 2008.

Cornerback Nickell Robey of Frostproof, Florida joins his cousin Carlton Thomas who signed with the Dawgs last year.

Garrison Smith, 6-5, 270, the third ranked defensive tackle, is from Atlanta's Douglas high school and will become a force on the inside.
