The Georgia football team began preparations for its game at South Carolina with a 60-minute workout — the last part of which took place in a steady rain -- on the Woodruff Practice Fields on Monday.
The No. 5 Dawgs are off to a 5-0 start, including a 3-0 mark in the SEC. On Saturday, they will visit sixth-ranked South Carolina (5-0, 3-0). The game will be televised by ESPN at 7 p.m. ESPN GameDay also will host its weekly show from the South Carolina campus.
"It's a huge game," linebacker Christian Robinson said. "It's College GameDay, everyone will be there and the nation is going to be watching. We need to be sharp in everything that we do. This is the biggest one we've had. … We've established ourselves as a team, so we know where our strengths are and we know what we need to work on. We also know where they're at. Instead of playing them early and you don't know what they're doing, we've seen plenty of tape on them and it will make it easier to make the adjustments we need to make for Saturday."
"We all know what's at stake," coach Mark Richt said. "This is an important game for both teams. We need to be sharp as we go through this week of practice. I thought we got the week off on the right foot tonight. Even with the rain, the guys were focused on preparing and trying to get better."
Richt announced the captains for Saturday's game will be quarterback Aaron Murray and tackle Kenarious Gates on offense, cornerback Sanders Commings on defense and Robinson on special teams.
Monday's injury report was one of the shortest of the season. The only two players on it were running back Brandon Harton (thumb) and tight end Cole Trolinger (concussion), both of whom were out.
