FOOTBALL
Tuesday marked the official reporting day for 105 University of Georgia football student-athletes back to campus.
The contingent included 17 members of Georgia’s most recent recruiting class that signed this past February. On Wednesday, the team will have a series of meetings and testing, and then the Dawgs will hit the field Thursday for the first time. Georgia coach Mark Richt is in his 12th season at the helm. The Dawgs went 10-4 last year including winning the SEC Eastern Division title.
Due to the NCAA's five-day "acclimatization period," a measure adopted for preseason football practices for all Division I-A teams since 2003, the Dawgs will be in shorts and helmets for their first few practices and eventually be in full pads next week.
Classes resume at UGA on Monday, August 13th. The annual Fans' Picture Day will be Saturday, August 18th in Sanford Stadium. The season opener against Buffalo is September 1st, and kickoff is set for 12:21 p.m. ET (SEC Network).
