FOOTBALL
Aaron Murray is not your typical red-shirt freshman quarterback according to his position coach, Mike Bobo.
Murray, 6-1, 209, is a student of the game and spends hours studying film to prepare himself. Even when he was certain that he would not play, he still prepared himself as if he was starting the game.
With ten returning starters surrounding him, Murray is confident that he can protect the ball, make good decisions and lead the offense.
The only question concerning the quarterback position is who will be the primary backup to Murray.
Junior Logan Gray, 6-2, 199 has worked exclusively at wide receiver this fall and is slated to see action in the opener at the position. If he is completely healthy, he would likely be the backup at quarterback also. Gray doesn’t have the arm strength of Murray but is the only player on the roster to take a snap at the position.
True freshman Hutson Mason, 6-3, 190 set the single season passing mark for the state of Georgia last year and has impressed the coaching staff with how quickly he has learned the play book. He has the best arm of the three and will be called on in the event Murray or Gray is injured.
